What's King's point?

So what is King's point in "Letter From Birmingham Jail"?
How do you know?

  1. King's point is that no unjust law should be respected or followed. King states "Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that, an unjust law is no law at all”. His stance against the churches letter in the newspaper is the catalyst for him to publicly state his grievance with the church. The church is not denouncing the unfair laws upheld by the government, and is being hypocritical. His St. Augustine quote only amplifies this hypocrisy.
